We need to act more on kindness

I’m back! Wow. It has certainly been forever since I’ve blogged. I’m feeling inspired to share the good vibes with everyone. Okay, so I’m known to be the guy who is always saying hello to everyone and asking friends and strangers how their day is going. At times I also have small chats with them. Regardless if I see them often and in the same place. I was told this today by a colleague. Honestly all I could answer was that I got raised around people that always tried to show kindness and respect to others. I know we are all living under tough circumstances, especially under the new presidential administration. Every time I tune on the news, it seems as if people have drifted into promoting more hatred and vulgarity at each other. I am here to inform and persuade everyone who reads this blog to practice more acts of kindness. Sometimes it’s true that certain people do not appreciate this priceless gift,  but that’s because they have surrounded themselves with negativity. Let me assure you that a simple act of kindness can brighten a persons day. We do not know what goes around in everyone’s mind or daily lives. Ask your neighbor how they are doing, spark a short conversation, engage like you actually care. People will remember how you treat them. Together we can make difference, and at the end of the day we are all here to live, together in this world. Spread more Kindness

Náufrago perdido en alta mar

“Llevo meses naufragando en alta mar, perdido y hundido de tristeza. A lo lejos una gran tormenta se acerca, oh Dios, tal vez hoy voy a morir.” Me acuerdo cuándo aquel predicador hizo el llamado: ‘los que necesiten paz, venir al frente para hacer una oración’ y yo hacía duro mi corazón. Me fui de aquella predicación con el corazón hecho pedazos y lleno de orgullo. Creí que sin Dios podia navegar solo, hasta que me perdí en alta mar.

 Los problemas de la vida fueron cargando su peso en mi espalda y el camino se puso dificil. Al borde de tanto sufrimiento pido a Dios que me guíe ha su casa, a tierra firme. 

Dios es la brújula, la luz, la estrella que me llevara a salvo. Tal vez se acerca una gran tormenta, pero con Dios puedo tener paz en la tormenta. El calma cualquier tempestad en tu vida

How To Be Successful-Tyler Perry’s Advice 

Halloween is around the corner, and I’m looking forward to see everyone wearing costumes. Always fun to watch every year! I’m also excited to see Tyler Perry’s, Boo! A Madea Halloween, which by the way opens in theatres this week. I’ve always been a fan of Tyler Perry’s movies, including the tv series, Meet the Browns. 

I just recently watched a Tyler Perry advice video on his Facebook page titled: how to be successful. Tyler explains the difficulties and patience it took him to build the empire he owns in film/theatre production. In the video, Tyler says that people often work on many things, doing this and that, for example one day they’re realtors, two weeks later opening a salon, etc. Tyler says people must focus on one thing and put all the energy into it; make it your priority and water it. In the clip he says, “if you water across many seeds you won’t have much water.” His main idea and one thing only was to do a one act play, and if that would work, he says everything else would fall into place. In 1992 he invested $12,000 to produce one play, he thought 12,000 people would show up and only 30 people came to watch the show. All the way up to 1998, the same situation occured but he never gave up hope and kept the focus on that goal. 

Success is a matter of hard work, patience, and maintaining hope. Most people switch thier ideas all the time as soon as they’re rejected or the idea fails the first time. If you believe in it, pursuit it. Keep watering that seed and watch it bloom. 

My advice is to write down one thing that you’re good at and stick with it. I personally know a few people that wander all over the place trying to strike open that success somewhere. What can help is to do something that you know and you’re good at. For instance, I can’t open a bar if I’ve never worked as a bartender. I can’t open up a restaurant if I’ve never been a chef in my life. You get the idea.

No te rindas, estás a un paso de lograr el éxito

El senderismo, hiking, es una especialidad de montañismo, una actividad deportiva que se realiza sobre caminos rocosos. Esta actividad requiere de mucho esfuerzo físico y mucha preparación. El objetivo, la meta, es alcanzar la cima de la montaña. Un sitio dónde se puede apreciar el terreno abajo de una manera más única. En realidad, son pocas las personas que alcanzan la cima. Algunos comienzan y cuándo ven lo dificil físicamente que es, se rinden. Hay personas que por situaciones de salud les complica seguir. Pero hay otras que al ver lo lejos que es llegar caminando a la cime, mejor se conforman y prefieren ver otros llegar. Los pocos que llegan hasta allí lo disfrutan, al final valio mucho el esfuerzo. 

Mi mensaje de hoy es que no te rindas. Las metas de la vida son como el deporte del senderismo. Comenzamos un sueño, una meta que alcanzar, pero cuándo el camino se pone dificil nos retiramos. El descanso es importante en este deporte. Hay tiempo para beber agua, comer proteina y reposar el cuerpo fatigado. También necesitamos un descanso, mental, físico, tiempo para relajar la mente y reflexionar. Pero nunca te rindas, estás a un paso de lograr tu meta. Quizas hoy parece que nunca llegas, piensa en todo el camino que ya superaste. La vista atras es una señal que te recuerda de lo que eres capaz. La mirada al frente de demuestra que eres valiente. Casa vez que pienses rendirte, di esto: <<Puede que no haya llegado todavía, pero estoy un poco más cerca que ayer>>.

From Performer to Spectator

Most of my life has been lived in the art world. I discovered my passion for music at age 9, I was part of the drama team in high school. I did community theatre after graduating. I’ve made and continue making a living as a painter. I currently announce, emcee, for a Mexican band on most weekends. I’m even in the making of writing a few short stories. I’ve always been a natural performer. I like to be on stage, the spotlight, the big screen, reveal my creativity to the world; up until this morning.

I woke up with a different perspective. It’s time to change things and learn. Observe the world from a different angle, the spectator’s life. 

The ultimate goal is become a better person. The spectator does well with giving criticism and feedback. The spectator analyzes what part of “the show” needs to improve, what can make it glow. 

What I’m going to do is write down everything that is circling in my life, where I’m at, where do I stand, most importantly how I communicate with other people.

Next, I’m going to write down which areas I desire to improve, into the details. Be the spectator of my own show, life.


Surround Your Life With Positive Mind-Thinking People

My circle of friends is quite small. The circle is made up of positive thinkers who have evolved from friends to mentors in my life. Last night, I called one of them and said, “I’m falling off a cliff over here, throw a hand and rescue me, I need some advise.” These are the people that will lift you when the surface you stand on becomes slithery. 

I tend to stay away from cynical and pessimist people that only drown my motivation. Instead, I surround myself with positive mind-thinking individuals. People who are dreamers, visionaries, and share an equal amount or higher idealistic enthusiasm for their own goals in life.  

This group of people have helped me achieve where I’m at and push me in the direction I want to go. Upfront, I get to know as much as I can about new people rather than enclosing myself deep in a cave. I understand that not everyone has the same vision, however, it does not stop me from treating them with humility and respect. 

I’m a highly persistent person, and persistent people often have a difficult time staying motivated. We need to constantly feel assurance, seek advise, and someone to listen to our ideas. In the contrary, cynical and pessimist will only laugh your idea to the extreme of saying nothing more than ridicule comments.

Positive thinkers, such as: mentors, innovators, people with a strong work-ethic, help us go further to pursue our goal. They uplift our spirits with positive vibe and eventually rescue us when times get difficile. 


Self-Actualization-Insight On Maslow’s Hierarchy Of Needs

Slowly but surely I’m starting to organize my desk. The truth is every time I begin cleaning up I come across interesting stuff and that pauses me. It can be letters, souvenirs, photos, or notes. I’ve taken many class notes, of course, I’m still a fan of writing things down with pen. There’s scientifical evidence out there that proves people can remember important information if they write it down on paper.  As I was sorting out the massive pile of papers on my desk I picked up some notes about Maslow’s Hierarchy pyramid of needs. In case you’ve never heard it, or have, here’s to refresh your memory, and mine. 

It takes five stages in life to reach self-actualization. It is the instance a person realizes and says: “I have accomplished everything I wanted in life. I have food and shelter, protection, a significant other, I have status, I’m happy.” 

According to Maslow’s Hierarchy of the Needs, once a person has reached one stage of the pyramid, they can then move to the next stage of the pyramid. 

However, if love and friendship are missing, a person cannot feel complete. Therefore, the individual person must find and complete that stage before they can reach the top of the pyramid called self-actualization. 

Here are the five stages, in the exact same order, starting from the bottom of the pyramid. In what stage are you in? What’s missing? Are you working on it? Think about it.

1. Biological and Physiological needs – air, food, drink, shelter, warmth, sex, sleep.

2. Safety needs – protection from elements, security, order, law, stability, freedom from fear.

3. Love and belongingness needs – friendship, intimacy, affection and love, – from work group, family, friends, and romantic relationships.

4. Esteem needs – achievement, mastery, independence, status, dominance, prestige, self-respect, and respect from others.

5. Self-Actualization needs – realizing personal potential, self-fulfillment, seeking personal growth and peak experiences. (SimplyPsychology)
